AJFC Winter Season Registration Fees

Abbotsford Juniors Football Club registration fees for the 2025 Winter Season

Early Bird Discount and Returning Player Cut-off

The Abbotsford Juniors early bird discount on registration fees will be reviewed and will applied before a nominated date to be advised in 2025.  This date also acts as the cut-off for returning AJFC players to complete their registration to ensure their participation and inclusion in their team from last year.  Player registrations after this time will be prioritised on a first come, first served basis and a place in the team is NOT guaranteed.  Regular registration fees will also apply from this time.

Important Information about Player Registration

  • Registration for the 2024 Winter Season with Abbotsford Juniors Football Club (and all other Clubs in the Football Canterbury Association) will be completed in the Dribl Registration system
  • Players should upload a new passport style photo each year during registration to avoid issues with old or out of date photos when playing
  • Players returning from a prior season can use their existing Dribl Registration account to register updating any relevant details as required
  • Multiple player, coach and manager registrations can be made through a single Dribl Registration Account (a separate Dribl account is not needed for each registration). For example, a parent who plays and manages their children’s team, can register themselves as a player, a manager and register their children from a single account and email address.

Mini-Roos, Junior and Youth Player Registration

Step 1 – Obtain your Services NSW – Active and Creative Kids Voucher (Optional)

Abbotsford Juniors Football Club is a registered activity provider and you can use your eligible Active and Creative Kids voucher to offset your player registration fee.  To obtain your voucher, please visit the online Services NSW – Active and Creative Kids voucher page.

Step 2 – create a Dribl Registration Account (if required)

If you are a new to football player or parent and have not registered with Abbotsford Juniors Football Club or another Football Canterbury Association club before, visit the Dribl Registration system.

Click Login (top right hand side of the screen) and select the Create Account button to setup your new account.

Step 3 – Complete Player registration

Navigate to the Dribl Registration system and follow the steps detailed in our Dribl Registration Guide.

Note – Selection of the correct Age Group

Please ensure that you register your child in their correct age group. Under the Football Canterbury Association competition rules, Junior and Youth player age groups are based on the age a player will turn during the year, regardless of which day or month of the year they are born.

For example, a player born on 20th March 2012 will turn 12 in 2024 and so the player should be registered to play in the Under 12 age group.

Adult Player Registration

Step 1 – Check TEAM space is available

Players seeking to join teams in an AJFC Adult team should contact the Club Registrar at registrar@abbotsfordjuniorsfc.com.au prior to registration. Team managers will be consulted about the team composition and playing roster for the coming year before new registrations are accepted. Many of our Adult teams also conduct trials to determine whether a player and visa-versa, the team, are a fit for each other.

Step 2 – create a Dribl Registration Account (If Required)

If you do not have a Dribl Registration account from a previous registration with Abbotsford Juniors Football Club or another Football Canterbury Association club, visit the Dribl Registration system and click Login (top right hand side of the screen) and select the Create Account button to setup a new account.

Step 3 – Complete Player Registration

Navigate to the Dribl Registration system and follow the steps detailed in our Dribl Registration Guide

Note – Selection of the correct Age Group

Please note that player age groups under Football Canterbury Association competition rules are determined differently for adult players from juniors and youth players. An adult player’s eligible age group is determined by the age they are at the 1st January of the playing year.

For example, a player who is 44 years old on 1st January 2024 but turns 45 on 15th January, is NOT eligible to play in an Over 45 age group competition.

Winter season player registration requests will be submitted to Abbotsford Juniors Football Club for final review and acceptance. Players will receive an email on confirmation of the acceptance of a registration by the AJFC. This email will provide information about sourcing playing kit and the AJFC approach to team formation.

Family Registration Fee Discount

Abbotsford Juniors Football Club offers a registration fee discount for families with 3 or more players who complete Winter season player registration with the Club. The discount rate is as follows:

  • 20% discount on 3rd player registration fee
  • 30% discount on 4th player registration fee; and
  • 40% discount on 5th and subsequent player registration fee

For the application of a discount(s) to family registration fee(s), players will be ordered by descending age with oldest player first. Discounts can be sourced by emailing the AJFC Treasurer and providing details of the family members registered.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do AJFC Winter Season player registration fees cover?

Registration fees paid to AJFC help cover the operational costs of the Club. This includes council field hire and lighting costs, provision of team training kit (balls, bibs, cones, poles and goals), match day playing kit, ground and field equipment (e.g. nets, flags), fees for coaching and referees’ courses, and associated general administration costs of running the Club. Abbotsford Juniors Football Club also makes a substantial donation to St John’s Ambulance each year for their provision of St John’s First Aid Officers for all of our home games. Registration fees also go towards a range of fees, levies and charges set by football governing bodies and payable by the Club on behalf of players and their teams:

  • Football Australia fees
  • Football NSW fee and insurance charge
  • Football Canterbury Association player and team fees; and
  • Canterbury Referees Association match official fees
Can I register and play in more than one team?

No. Football NSW and Football Canterbury Association rules prohibit players from registering with more than one club and/or more than one team during the Winter Season. While AJFC understands some players would like the opportunity to play more football, we cannot accept multiple registrations for a single player.

Can my child play with their friends in a specific team?

Yes, with some restrictions.  AJFC is aware that many players who are new to football are often invited to play with their friendship groups or previous team-mates.  AJFC allows parents to nominate friends and/or a team they wish to play with during registration. Wherever possible, Abbotsford Juniors will do its best to support this participation. This cannot be guaranteed. The Club will advise the child’s parent/guardian where this is not possible.

Please note that this is not possible for AJFC Academy (Division 1) teams where team formation is through organised trials and selection.

How do I know which age group as a player, I or my child will be in?

Junior and youth football players qualify for their age group based on the birthday they have during the calendar year of play. For example, a player who has their 10th birthday during 2024 will generally play in a team in the Under 10 competition but is unable to play in an Under 9 competition.

Adult football players qualify for teams based upon their age at the start of the year. For example, a player who is 34 at 1st January but is turning 35 during the year, would be able to play in an All Age team but not an Over 35 team.

Does AJFC provide financial hardship assistance?

Yes, AJFC does consider financial and other hardship situations. The Club may offer the option of a payment plan or waive a portion of a player’s registration fees where it is found that someone is in genuine financial need. Applications for assistance should be submitted to the AJFC Registrar for assessment.

If I decide to withdraw after registering, can I get a refund?

No refunds are available after the season commences unless there is a genuine medical reason (doctors certificate required). This is due to the amounts paid out to third parties (see above). Refunds prior to season commencement before a game is played are possible upon application. The refund of a used Active and Creative Kids Voucher is not possible due to Service NSW restrictions. The Club is able to transfer player registration to another Club within the Association under certain circumstances.

Player Assignment to a Team

The approach to team formation at Abbotsford Juniors is as follows:

Junior and Youth Teams
  1. Players selected for Academy and Division 1 teams formed by AJFC trials will be automatically assigned to their team
  2. Returning players registered by the nominated deadline will be automatically be assigned to their previous year’s team unless they make a specific request to be moved to another team. Movement to another existing AJFC team will only be made with the approval of the team coach or manager.
  3. New players who complete registration prior to the deadline and who have a place within a existing team confirmed by coach or manager, will be assigned at this time.
  4. Players (new or returning) registering post the deadline will be assigned to a team where space is available. Returning players who register after the deadline may find that a position in their existing team is no longer available.
  5. The Club works with our coaches and managers to coordinate the allocation of players and to balance teams where there are too many players who want to play for a single team. Friendship groups are considered but not guaranteed as part of this process.
  6. Finally, AJFC may decide to conduct team formation days for certain age groups or teams.  Dates and times for these days will be communicated via our website, social media and email as appropriate.
Senior and Adult Teams
  1. Returning players registered by the nominated deadline and who have a place confirmed in an existing team by the nominated coach or manager will be automatically assigned to their team
  2. Returning players who wish to move to a new team must make a specific request to the Club at the time of registration. Any request will be confirmed with the team’s nominated coach and/or manager.
  3. New players who complete registration by the nominated deadline and have a place confirmed by a coach or manager within a team will be assigned at this time.
  4. Post the deadline, players (new or returning) registering post the deadline will be assigned to a team by the Club where space is available. This may involve an invitation to a short trial or training session to determine whether a player and visa-versa, the team, are a fit for each other.
  5. AJFC works with team coaches and managers in coordinating discussions aimed at sourcing new players where teams are short of players and to balance teams where there are too many players who want to play for a single team
  6. Adult players should always should check with the AJFC Club Registrar at registrar@abbotsfordjuniorsfc.com.au prior to registration to determine whether a placement in a team is possible.

Once teams are finalised, the Club will communicate this to team coaches, managers and players via a team confirmation email and register the team with Football Canterbury Association for the up-coming season.
