Member Behaviour

Abbotsford Juniors Football Club (AJFC) has clearly defined set of AJFC Codes of Conduct that define acceptable member behaviour. An AJFC member is responsible for their behaviour and that of their respective team group. All parents, spectators, players and team officials associated with a particular team must behave in a responsible manner in accordance with our Codes of Conduct and our Club Policies.

If a spectator or parent misbehaves, it is the responsibility of the team and its management to ensure proper behaviour is observed and assist the Club, Ground Officials and Match Officials in identifying any people involved.

The Club understands that coaching and managing a team is a tough job, but we expect our coaches and managers to ensure that their teams play and behave in the manner that is consistent with the Abbotsford Juniors Football Club values.

If for any reason you and/or your team are struggling with non-complying players, parents or spectators associated with AJFC, please make contact an Executive Committee Member and we will assist in ensuring that the Club’s values and codes are maintained and enforced.

Football Canterbury Association Disciplinary Rules and Regulations

Everyone at AJFC, whether they are a player, coach, manager and/or volunteer, is encouraged to read the Football Canterbury Judiciary Disciplinary Rules and Regulations to ensure they understand the required member behaviour and:

  • The actions that can lead to the Football Canterbury Association issuing a player, a team and/or AJFC with a sanction and fine;
  • The Yellow Card and Red Card process for matches; and
  • The Football Canterbury Association Disciplinary and Appeals process

Association Fines and Penalties

The Abbotsford Juniors Football Club fine for a red-card send-off for any member (players, coaches or managers) is $80 per offense.  If this fine is not paid, then the member involved will remain suspended in Dribl and will not be available to play.  In addition to a fine, an automatic suspension will be applied by the Association Judiciary. To return to active participation in the team, the fine must be paid and the suspension period completed before the member will be re-instated to the match sheet.

Team fines and penalties that can be imposed by the Football Canterbury Association include but are not limited to:

  • Forfeit of matches within 48 hours of the match time
  • No Team Officials present at a game
  • Playing an ineligible player (if you are unsure check with the Club, don’t risk it!)
  • No Club Ground Officials present
  • Incorrectly roping off or setup of the field
  • Non-submission of the match sheet in Dribl

Football Canterbury Association penalties and fines that AJFC receives with regard to an individual player or team official will be passed on (along with any associated administration fees and costs) to be paid by the individual person involved. AJFC has the right to withhold clearance of a player’s record in Dribl until such a fine is paid.  A failure by the individual to pay may result in suspension from playing and, ultimately, de-registration.

Similarly, Football Canterbury Association team penalties and fines the Club receives in regard to a team including parents or spectators associated with a team, will be passed on (with any associated administration fees and costs) to be paid by the team concerned. It is the responsibility of the team manager to collect any fines on behalf of the team. A failure by the team to pay within a (1) week will result in AJFC automatically forfeiting the team’s matches until such time the fine is paid. A continued failure to pay a team fine may result in team de-registration.

AJFC Disciplinary Committee and Appeals Process

The Abbotsford Juniors Football Club Disciplinary Committee (“the Committee”) is tasked with reviewing and considering what if any action(s) the Club should take in response to any Football Canterbury Association imposed sanction that involves an AJFC member (player, coach, manager, parent or supporter) or, an AJFC team more broadly. This includes consideration of requests by an AJFC member or team to appeal a Football Canterbury Association or Football NSW imposed penalty and/or fine resulting from a Red card given during any match.

The Committee may at its discretion, impose additional Club penalties and/or sanctions that are added to any penalty or sanction imposed by the Football Canterbury Association and/or Football NSW.

Please see the AJFC Disciplinary Committee page for further detail on the appeals process for Red cards.
