AJFC Game Leader Payments

Game Leader Payments are made to certified Game Leaders who attend and lead Mini-Roos football (Under 8 to Under 11) matches at Abbotsford Juniors Football Club home fields. Certified Game Leaders can be recognised by their Pink Game Leader bib worn when leading a match.

AJFC Game Leaders must be paid their full amount prior to each game by the Abbotsford Juniors team when playing at an Abbotsford Juniors home ground (Campbell and Lysaght Park). This is the HOME team in the majority of cases.  It is the AWAY team where an Abbotsford Juniors team is playing away game at Campbell or Lysaght Park. Abbotsford Juniors teams are NOT required to pay a Game Leader when playing away from Abbotsford Juniors home grounds.

In addition, any coach, manager, parent or Club Official who acts as Game Leader for any game in the absence of a certified Game leader is NOT entitled to be paid.

Abbotsford Juniors Game Leader payments must be made in cash and are payable by a single team (not both) according to the following table.  The game should not commence until all payments are made and match sheets are completed.

Game Leader Payment Record Sheet

The Game Leader Payment Record Sheet is the formal record of payment made by a team to Game Leaders.  The sheet must be completed by the Team Manager or Coach and initialed by the Game Leader when a payment is made. Team Managers are responsible for ensuring team Game Leader payments are completed. The Club recommends that Team Managers take a photo of the Payment Record Sheet regularly as a backup in case it is lost. Once the Sheet is complete with all 8 matches, please email a copy of the completed sheet to the Club Treasurer for reimbursement.

Game Leader Fee Reimbursement Policy

1. Payments will be processed in batches and will typically take a week or two for reimbursement.

2. All payments will be EFT to the nominated bank account. Team managers must ensure their details are completed on each form submitted.

3. The Club will not split the referee fee reimbursement amongst 2 or 3 bank accounts. Teams (team managers) should arrange a single person/bank account to receive the reimbursement and where required, distribute payment to others that have contributed for match official fees.

4. The Club appreciates that teams (team managers) are out of pocket for the game leader payments and will try to be as efficient as possible in reimbursing these fees. Please understand that the Club committee are all volunteers and perform these tasks in their free time. If a game leader fee reimbursement is urgent for any reason, then please note this in your email to the Club Treasurer and the Club will do its best to expedite payment.

Payment For Forfeit Games

In the case where a team does not show up for a game, and the game is forfeited in Dribl, the home team is required to pay the Game Leader in attendance and include this on their Game Leader Payment sheet.

Game Leader Payment At Other Clubs

The payment of Game Leaders is different from the payment of referees in that only one team (not both) is responsible for payment.  The rule defining which Club is responsible for payment of a game leader has been confirmed by the Football Canterbury Association as follows:

The full payment of the Game Leader or Referee acting as a Game Leader is to be made by the Club/Team associated with the field where the game is being played in all instances.

The result is that the ONLY time an Abbotsford Juniors team is required to pay a Game Leader is when they are playing at an Abbotsford Juniors home field at either Campbell Park and Lysaght Park.  That team is responsible for the complete payment.

Abbotsford Juniors teams should not pay a Game Leader or Referee acting as a Game Leader in any other circumstance.  Should a team, referee or Game Leader at another ground insist upon payment, please ask to speak to a local Club official to clarify the situation. If the Club insists, pay the fee obtaining a receipt or other evidence and email this to the Club Secretary.

Game Leader Payment – Examples

To help understand how Game Leader payment works, we’ve provided some examples below.

HOME GAMES played at AJFC HOME FIELDS (Campbell Park and Lysaght Park)

The HOME team is solely responsible for the payment of the Game Leader. Example: AJFC is playing Burwood in an Under 8/1 game at Campbell Park Mini 1 as the home team. The AJFC team is solely responsible for the payment of the Game Leader and can claim this from the Club

AWAY GAMES at AJFC HOME FIELDS (Campbell Park and Lysaght Park)

The team from the HOME field is solely responsible for the payment of the Game Leader. Where the game involves two Abbotsford teams, the team nominated as the HOME team (Point 1) is solely responsible for the payment of the Game Leader. Example: AJFC is playing Concord in an Under 9Girls/3 game at Lysaght Park Mini 1 but is the AWAY team. As the team from the HOME field, the AJFC team is solely responsible for the payment of the Game Leader and can claim this from the Club

HOME OR AWAY GAMES played at another team’s HOME FIELD

The team from the HOME field is solely responsible for the payment of the Game Leader. Example 1: AJFC is playing an away game against Five Dock in an Under 11/2 game at Nield Park Half 1. The Five Dock team as the team from the HOME field is responsible for the payment of the Game Leader. Example 2: AJFC is playing a home game against Russell Lea in an Under 10 Girls/1 game at Queen Elizabeth Half 1. The Russell Lea team as the team from the HOME field is responsible for the payment of the Game Leader

HOME OR AWAY GAMES at NEUTRAL FIELDS (rare but possible)

The HOST Club controlling the neutral field is responsible for the payment of the Game Leader (neither of teams playing the game should pay)
Example: AJFC is playing Five Dock Under 9/3 at Majors Bay Reserve Mini 1. Concord as the HOST Club is responsible for the payment of the Game Leader.
