AJFC Member Protection

Abbotsford Juniors Football Club (AJFC) has created a Member Protection Framework that is comprised of a number of policies and procedures that support the Club’s objective to provide a safe, secure and positive environment for all its members to participate in football. Abbotsford Juniors Football Club believes strongly in and commits to ensuring that everyone’s right to be safe and to be protected from discrimination, harassment and abuse, and to be treated with respect and ensure their dignity is maintained.

The Football Australia Member Protection Framework

The Football Australia Member Protection Framework (the Framework) applies to every participant in Australian football and this outlines the policy regulations regarding harassment, discrimination, bullying, child protection, child abuse and handling complaints in relation to these matters. Every AJFC member is bound by the Framework and the Club’s own policies and procedures operating under and in conjunction with the Framework.

The AJFC Member Protection Information Officer

The AJFC Member Protection Information Officer (the MPIO) is responsible for ensuring AJFC has appropriate information, processes and support to ensure that our members are protected from harassment, discrimination, bullying, physical, sexual or emotional abuse while participating in activities conduct by or associated with the Club.  Abbotsford Juniors Football Club is committed to providing a safe and positive environment for all members but especially children to participate in football.

What does AJFC do to protect club members?

AJFC maintains a set of policy and procedural documents that detail the Club’s commitment to the safety and welfare of all our members. These include specific policies, procedures and processes that relate specifically to child safety and welfare.

  1. AJFC has documented Codes of Conduct for all members whether players, parents, coaches, managers, officials and/or spectators that are accepted during registration.  The Codes outline appropriate and expected behaviour for those involved with the Club.
  2. All officials (including coaches and team managers) at AJFC who have direct involvement with children must undertake or already possess a Volunteer or Paid Working with Children Check. In addition, any Club Executive or official who is paid for the work at the Club must have appropriate certification, have undertaken a Working with Children Check and undergo a background check.
  3. The Club coordinates the presence of Ground Officials to assist with spectator behaviour at games at Campbell Park and Lysaght Park to report on and deal with any incidents.
  4. AJFC has a documented process to deal fairly with any complaints including allegations of abuse. If you have a complaint, issue or allegation please contact the AJFC MPIO or other AJFC Executive Committee Member.
